Featured Presenter - Dr. David Myers

Dr. David MyersDavid Myers is Professor of Music, Founding Director of the Center for Educational Partnerships in Music (CEPM), and founding coordinator of the Ph.D. in music education program at Georgia State University.  CEPM’s Sound Learning (SL) partnership with the Atlanta Symphony and four local schools engages performance, composition, and music education majors with ASO and community musicians in a residency program to build sustainable cultures for music learning.  In 2007, SL was studied by Harvard University’s “Qualities of Quality” team as one of 12 outstanding arts education programs nationally; and in 2007 it received the Atlanta Partners for Education A+ Award.  David works extensively with the League of American Orchestras, most recently evaluating the Ford Made in America project with composer Joan Tower and the Institutional Vision program for innovative management in American orchestras.  He serves as the American consultant to an international consortium of conservatories developing a joint master of music degree for new audiences and innovative practice.  David has keynoted national and international conferences, writes and speaks extensively on collaboration in the arts, and is an advocate for developing civic engagement attitudes and skills among aspiring career musicians.  David is the 2008 recipient of the Distinguished Career Award from the Georgia Music Educators Association.
