Live Concert Previews Page

Jim MillerA free preview of each MSO concert held at the Capitol Civic Centre is presented by Jim Miller, local music educator. These insightful introductions, are held in the Kadow Room of the Capitol Civic Centre, begin at 6:45 p.m. Previews include lively information about the repertoire, the composers, themes, and pertinent historic and geographic facts, all “setting the stage” for the evening’s concert.

Mr. Miller holds two degrees from Indiana University, a bachelor’s degree in Music Education and a master’s in Choral Conducting. He has attended classes at the Royal School of Church Music in Croydon, England and has directed concert/cultural tours around the world. Mr. Miller sings with the White Heron Chorale of Appleton, the Maritime Chamber Ensemble, and he is a member of the Voice Care Network. He is a recipient of the Morris D. Hayes Award, given by the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association for meritorious work in choral music. He also conducts choral festivals around the state, adjudicates vocal music contests, and has an active private voice and piano studio in his home.

At present Mr. Miller is ad-hoc staff at Silver Lake College and he teaches applied voice and piano at the University of Wisconsin – Manitowoc. He also directs the “Off Broadway” productions for the Capitol Civic Centre.
