Our April 17 Concert will mark the end of our 2009-2010 season. And what a season it has been! Incredible concerts highlighting accomplished artists, and a committed orchestra directed by a talented and dedicated Music Director who just happens to be celebrating 20 years with the Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra.
While it has been a challenging year, I can report to you that we are fiscally sound. We thank all of our corporate, concert, program and individual sponsors for supporting us. Your donations and attendance at our concerts enable us to provide you with quality and memorable music.
I would be remiss if I didn’t take this opportunity to thank the Board of Directors and committee members for all the work completed this year.
Here are just a few of the accomplishments:
.-Creation of discount offerings for new subscribers and families to attend the symphony
.-Formation of a strategic plan
.-First time orchestrating the Tour of Homes and the upcoming Gala
.-Design of a top notch website
.-Introduction of new media channels; Facebook and Internet advertising
.-Educational outreach
.-Providing creative and new approaches to fundraising
.-Partnership opportunities with Holy Family Memorial, Silver Lake College and MPSD
.-Introduction of MSO School/Family Night at the Symphony
As I write this, Board and committee members continue to commit and dedicate themselves to providing new and innovative ways to increase attendance and support our symphony.
Many accolades are extended to Jim Miller for educating us. Because of Jim, we have a better understanding of the composers we hear and the music they created. We know what to listen for and to. We are indebted to him and thank him for his continued devotion to the symphony.
Next year marks our diamond or 60th Anniversary. As Wayne Wildman, Music Director, so eloquently explains, “We want you, our audience, to discover how classical music can inspire passion and imagination as you revisit the familiar or delight in encountering the new”.
